Chamber Hosts the Egyptian Ambassador.
Ambassador of Egypt H.E. Mahmoud Hisham Assranwas the special Guest speaker at a session on “Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka & Egypt ” 25 February 2016 at the Chamber. He was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission Mrs. Reham Samir Mahmoud Alfeqi. At the session the participants were able to have a close interaction with the Ambassador of Egypt and officials of the Embassy of Egypt. Egypt and Sri Lanka first established diplomatic relations, in 1957 and the Egyptian Embassy in Colombo was the first Arab Embassy to be opened in Sri Lanka. Egypt is a country with the oldest civilization with a rich history , Egypt today is progressing rapidly and its economy is one of the largest and most diversified in the Middle East, in sectors such as tourism, agriculture,construction IT,engineering and financial services.
The main Sri Lankan exports to Egypt are coconuts, tea, woven fabrics, and rubber and rubber products, the main Egyptian imports to Sri Lanka are appliances, machines, plastics etc
