National Chamber Hosts the Canadian High Commissioner
High Commissioner of Canada being presented with a Memento by the President of the National Chamber, Mr Thilak Godamanna, with the Senior Deputy President , Mr Sujeeve Samaraweera, looking on.
The High Commissioner of Canada H.E. Shelley Whiting was the Special Guest Speaker at a session on Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Canada held on 28 April 2015 at the chamber auditorium. The High Commissioner was accompanied by the Trade Counsellor of the High Commission. Members were able to have a close discussion with the High Commissioner on related issues when doing business with Canada.
Trade and Economic relations between Sri Lanka and Canada have increased over the years. Apparel and clothing have been the main item of export from Sri Lanka to Canada, which accounted to 54% of the total value of Sri Lanka`s exports to Canada in the past years. Products and services which have potentials from Sri Lanka to Canada are, Textile and apparel, Gem and jewellery, Rubber based products, Ceramics, Confectionary items, Leather products, Fresh & processed food.
